The above image is a panel from “My, My American Bukkake Too,” a comic that I made in 2003 or 2004. I made the comic using photos I shot on a bukkake movie set, running the images through Microsoft Paint, and editing the results. This comic was a sequel to “My, My American Bukkake,” a comic that I made using the same process in 2002. There was some controversy around MMABT, which you can read about here. I believe MMAB was first published in Headpress 23. Later that same year, MMAB was published again, in Dirty Stories Volume 3, which was edited by Eric Reynolds and published by Fantagraphics, alongside comics by Joe Sacco, Bob Fingerman, and Carol Swain, among others. MMAB was republished again or MMABT was published (I can’t remember which one) in Best Erotic Comics 2008, which was edited by Greta Christina and published by Last Gasp, alongside comics by Daniel Clowes, Phoebe Gloeckner, and Toshio Saeki, among others. In a review of Dirty Stories Volume 3, “A Fresh Look at Porn Comix,” TIME called MMAB a “non-fiction standout.” In 2004, MMABT was published on Artbomb (a comics website created by Warren Ellis that no longer exists), where it was described as “a deeply moving account of personal loss set amidst the tapestry of sexual taboo.”

In the latest installment of my newsletter — subscribe here — I wrote about a bad date and why it’s hard for me to explain what I do as a consultant to men who are not the type of men who are my consulting clients.

Behold: “Footsi.” It’s an amazing black and white video by artist Pat Oleszko. It stars a pair of mini-Mary Janes-clad fingers exploring the world. [via NYT]

Check out the trailer for “Mank,” forthcoming from David Fincher by way of Netflix.
“1930s Hollywood is reevaluated through the eyes of scathing social critic and alcoholic screenwriter Herman J. Mankiewicz (Gary Oldman) as he races to finish the screenplay of Citizen Kane.”

I have two of these, one white and one grey. They both have red eyes. One sits on my desk, and the other sits near my phone. Sometimes their tails catch my eye. For some, rats conjure up the idea of pestilence. To me, they’re a sort of familiar.

The other day, I found myself walking past these monstrous satellite dishes in Burbank. I think they are there for a TV studio to broadcast from? But I’m not sure. I’d walked by them several times in the past, but getting closer to them required walking onto private property. This time, I decided to investigate by walking up the driveway and then snapped a few shots of two big dishes that I could see on the other side of a hedge. Then I kept walking down the street.
As I walked past another driveway, I saw there were more dishes, and I could get closer to them. So I walked towards them. There were a series of large dishes, and some other smaller things doing I don’t know what. There was also a small building with a sign that read 2901 SATELLITE BUNKER. It all felt very @socialistmodernism. I wondered if the dishes were transmitting information or receiving information or both. I snapped more pics. Then my phone rang, and a woman walking by asked me if she was going the right way to the Chick-fil-A, and I walked back to my car.
